Best purchase in months! Maybe not, but if it keeps you happy at home rather than going out, then it may not be that bad.

I would say for sure you want to pay down the highest interest rate first. If you setup automatic payments then the hassle should be easily out-weighed by the interest savings.

2 trains of thought on this.

1. You pay down the highest interest rate debt (credit card I bet)

2. You pay down the smallest amount owing (couch) then you snowball that payment into another one.

Personally I prefer 2. Keeping track of more than one gives me a headache.

Good luck! Although I do (don't hate me!) slightly question WHY you bought a home theatre when it's not a necessity and you had so much debt going on in this economic crisis y'all are having... just a thought :)

Am still following, can't wait to see you pay it all off!

Congrats on getting a place - the nice thing about getting a condo versus a house is that you're less likely to need vast sums of money for repairs. Keep an eye on your condo fees; condo's now need to have minimum reserve funds which can dramatically increase your monthly fees.

Don't overspend just yet - wait till you have the keys.

I'd love to hear all about your home buying process here in Ottawa. I'm still a couple years away from buying a house but in the meantime I love hearing about other people's experiences.

Hahaha I agree that there's a lot of circular linking going on in the blogosphere. Ads don't bother me as much as PayPerPost, I can put blinders on when I visit a site and just focus on the content of the post, but the PPPs are disguised as real content... bleh!

My only peeve is with PF blogs that clutter up their sites with ads for DreamHost and MozyHome. Imagine soiling the beauty of one's profound PF musings with crass advertisement (or 'sponsors') - all for a measly $5 a month ;)

And aren't all those "goals" graphics that clutter up lots of PF blogs really, really annoying? After all, who else in the universe will care if you're 38.7% of the way towards saving $8,000 for Aunt Gracie's operation?
